Perhaps the highest discipline in the realtimevideo & VJ area is "livecoding", i.e. creating visuals live on site using only mathematics and physics formulas such as a specific programming language to speak to the GPU APIs directly by just tiping it on the keyboard.
I noticed the website of "livecode.nyc" for this purpose. It contains some information with various free programs for different programming languages (moast basic on C or C++" ββon that topic:
